Loft Apartment
RBKC, London, UK
A modestly scaled but satisfying refurbishment of a top floor apartment in a Kensington Victorian terrace. The property was fully reconfigured to transform a single-level one bedroom flat into a two-storey maisonette with a double height living space. The design maximised the limited space and budget, nearly doubling the overall internal area while making most of the internal volume through using daylight and visual connections. The living area is linked to the main bedroom through a wide glazed window; new rooflights light the spaces below; existing materials and fixtures are repurposed in a new vision of the Victorian apartment.
Project carried out while at dust architecture.
