Brick Houses

East Dulwich, London, UK

This residential development scheme was an exercise in balancing a contemporary take on traditional Victorian typology. Located in a typical leafy South-East London street lined with semi-detached family houses, securing planning permission for a 3 unit new-build scheme on a tight site proved to be a challenge. This was achieved through a carefully nuanced design that addresses the site’s context and surrounding amenity constraints while referencing traditional architectural features in a contemporary design language. The approved scheme makes for a unique development that slots into the street scene while maximising the site’s potential, consisting of two semi-detached 4-bedroom family dwellings and a 3-bedroom house, all with basement levels and generous external garden spaces.

Project carried out while at dust architecture.
