our approach

We believe in good. Good ideas, good people, good spaces. Good design that can improve everyday lives, contribute to a place and make a difference. Small and big. Life can be serious; it is also short. We look at this simply: we aim to make places that respect their past, play in the present and look to the future. Places where people are at the core. We play for the good.

Our name is a play on this: playful (ludic from Latin ludus) architecture for the people (Polish: lud). We strive to design spaces that are fun, beautiful and practical. Places that bring joy to their occupants.

We don’t have a house style: every project is a unique journey that resonates to its own tune. We listen first. We talk, we engage. We then work together: with the client, the project team, the craftsmen and the builders in realising a vision. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach – we create through harmony.

We care about how things are made, where they come from and how they are put together. We are mindful about the impact architecture has: on the soul, on the surroundings, on nature. We believe the impact can be a good one.

who we are

Lúdika is a design and architecture studio founded by Anna and Jan upon moving to Iceland in 2020. The couple met at the Glasgow School of Art and gained their professional experience in various practices in London, Reykjavik and Cairo. Before forming Lúdika they worked together for over 8 years at an architectural practice in London, playing an instrumental role in growing the firm from a young start-up to an established mid-sized practice. Over the years they gained intimate knowledge of the construction process through a hands-on approach on many projects and building sites. Their experience spans small and large domestic projects, commercial housing developments, cultural projects including adaptive reuse, museums and exhibitions together with educational projects covering colleges and nurseries.
